Incisor (tooth)

The 8 incisor teeth (4 maxillary and 4 mandibular) are located in the front view of the mouth, close to the body midline. Their number is the same both in the primary (childhood) and permanent (adult) dentition. Central incisors are the most rectangular in shape and are located next to the lateral incisors. Their role is to bite food.
